What oil should I use?
While full synthetic oils provide superior performance, particularly in extreme temperatures, they may not be necessary for all situations. On the back of oil containers, you'll often find a circle with various certifications that indicate the oil meets specific standards set by organizations such as the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). To get the most out of your a-iPower portable generators, it's crucial to use the right oil. For all our engines we recommend oil should meet the minimum API Service Class SJ, SL, or better. It is not necessary to use special additives.
Select your oil’s viscosity grade according to the expected operating temperature:
Above 40°F, use SAE 30
Between 10°F - 40°F, use 10W-30
Below 10°F, use synthetic 5W-30
How often should I change the oil?
